    Description

1795 Flowing Hair Dollar PCGS Fine Details/Damage.  Now this is a really intriguing coin to me.  The obverse is terrific, well centered and evenly worn with very pretty medium grey silver toning and a pleasant touch of iridescence when under a light.  The reverse also displays the same terrific toning and iridescence.  The "damage" on this coin ... a mark across the eagle on the reverse ... is in an interesting place.  It's clearly random; it's not particularly straight and I would venture to say does not appear to be intentionally made.  I was initially thinking this could be a struck-thru error but now I'm thinking it could also easily be a mint-caused defective planchet.  And of course it could be random damage as well.  I posted two photos of the mark and am happy to entertain other theories as well so if you have them, please share!  In any case I think on any given day this coin could have made it into a F12 or F15 holder without any qualifications, but who really knows?  The mark on the reverse is clearly there, so draw your own conclusions as to its origin.  Free registered & insured shipping to the astute new owner!
