Glittering lustrous fields are reminiscent of newly fallen snow on a Vail ski-slope, softly lacquered with amber and rose-gold iridescence, and crowned with a halo of gold, magenta and neon blue. The dramatically toned surfaces on this perfectly preserved museum-piece are beautifully complemented by the equally impressive chiseled details in Lady Liberty’s tresses, stars, and the eagle’s feathers, shield, arrows and olive branch. Remember that this coin was hand-made with a screw press; and I am confident its designer Robert Scot would have taken justifiable pride with the lasting craftsmanship of this medallic ingot of Big Silver. About B-7a, BB-156, R.4. Bowers Die State III. An encircling network of fine die cracks begins at ERICA of AMERICA and runs throughout the legend and lower reverse devices. Faint die clashing is visible on the obverse with a lens. The late die state is scarce, yet the real attraction is the BB-156 variety, which is very scarce in high grades.
