• Paper Wasp Nest - native to central Massachusetts
• Core (the cells) have separated from most of the paper wrapper.
• Core has 4 distinct 'Layers' - the cells were oriented with the open part DOWNWARD when in use.
• Core is about 6" tall and about 6" wide
• Some cells still contain silk covers, but any eggs or brood are not alive.
HISTORY:
This nest was produced over one summer - was grown on the front porch overhang of a property I personally own. I allowed the hive to continue until the ensuing winter, and sprayed the nest with bee killing chemicals around December 1, 2019. I allowed the nest to remain on the overhang all winter to insure all the killing agents had evaporated or otherwise dispersed. The hive was collected this spring - April 2020. The toughness of the core prevented collecting the nest with the cover intact.
• Note the several photos of the paper covering which show the various colors of the wood, other plant fibers used to make the paper. This unique color, pattern is one of nature's amazing productions.
•• Total Weight just a tad under 8 Ounces.
Shipping weight will be around 2 pounds.
CONDITION:

I'm not sure how to explain the condition of this 100% natural item ... It's not been altered in any way since removal from the site the hornets chose to built it.
The core is not very fragile...the cover paper is quite fragile.
