1994 6.5x3.5 Inch Inaugural NASCAR Brickyard 400 1994 First Day Cover envelope - (FDC) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway featuring
the 4Time Winner of the Indy 500
AJ Foyt,Jr
in in his #7 Indy Car at that time. Please see the scan. This, of course, has never been used by the USPS. The AJ Foyt #7 image is made of a velvet like material and is very special.
The
rarity
of the item are many. Why is the image of his Indy Car used for this FDC? The item is promoting the inaugural event in NASCAR history at the IMS? Why did they not use a image of the legendary #14 Indy Car or his Gilmore Broadcasting sponsored #14 Stock Car? While I know he did not run that car in the event, (he ran the Kennemetal sponsored #50). Just wondering. Nice item indeed.

While it's only my opinion, to me, AJ Foyt, Jr is the Greatest American Race Car Driver to ever take the wheel. This would be based on his talents, diversification in types of race cars and records that support that. He is a 7 Time USAC Indy Car Champion with 67 wins in his career, the first Four Time Winner of the Indianapolis 500,
the only driver to win the Indy 500 in both a front engine and rear engine race car twice
, 7 Winston Cup NASCAR wins, which the series is now referred to The Monster Energy Drink Series, a win at the 24 hours of Lemans, a 1972 victory in the Daytona 500 driving for the Wood Brothers, 2 wins at the 24 Hours of Sebring in Daytona and hundreds of USAC Dirt Champ Car, Stock Car, Sprint Car and Midget car victories in his amazing career. He also won the 1999 Indy 500 again as a car owner with Kenny Brack at the wheel.
I have tons of AJ's stuff including all of his books, hundreds of autographed photos, programs, posters, his 45 rpm record "The Ballad of AJ Foyt", contracts and thousands of more items, so check back.
Please ask questions as needed and thanks.
